Although HIFK won the shooting statistics by as much as 49–24, only Eetu Koivistoinen succeeded in scoring with an understrength from Ilves’ quite a mistake.

– Due to our inefficiency, this happened here, but we are in the right direction, HIFK’s head coach Ville Peltonen regretted.

In the match, it was worth noting that HIFK didn’t have real top-class places any more than Ilves did.

So what are you talking about?

– Today we were pretty well on top of the game. Of course, you also have to defend against high-quality teams, but more is decided within three meters of the goal – we were too blunt about that.

– You just have to get more efficiency and quality to score goals, Peltonen summed up.

Process in step

HIFK has the biggest player budget in the SM league together with Kärppi, but the crew worth three million euros does not seem to reach the level set by top clubs such as Ilves and Tappara at the moment.

After three matches, HIFK has one win and two losses.

There is a lot of work involved in the big club’s process.

– If the bar is high enough every day, then the results will improve.

– Our tempo and the like at this top level are not yet as high-quality as we would like, Peltonen assesses the current situation.
