“We would like to use some sort of alternatives from peripheral car parks by this summer so that the moment it becomes very busy that we can offer people alternatives,” says Mayor John Crombez van Oostende.
This morning you could enter Ostend very smoothly, but yesterday it was a bit different. Tourists continued to flow, even after noon. Around four o’clock the police closed the center for an hour for all traffic. Peripheral car parks must prevent this.
“The long term will be looked at at large peripheral car parks in the vicinity of the motorway, then that should be done with shuttle buses, Zandvoordestraat and from the Bosje Konterdamkaai and beyond. Those are the places where it should be possible and that is now studying,” says Mayor John Crombez.
