The Liefkenshoek tunnel has been made toll-free once this year, for almost five hours, and three times in 2024 for a total of six hours. These figures are a lot lower than in previous years, according to data from Flemish Minister of Mobility Annick De Ridder at the request of Flemish MP Jasper Pillen (Open VLD). He advocates using the Liefkenshoek tunnel more to prevent Antwerp mobility from coming to a complete standstill.
