Gordon decided last night in the talk show Op1 to explain the harrowing situation of migrant workers in Qatar downplay by pointing to the colonial past of the Netherlands. “We are all like that woke all together. Stop it! Let’s talk about fun things”, the entertainer shouted at the table.

Gordon fell wrong

Fellow guest Fleur Jongepier was sitting at the table because she stopped working as a university lecturer due to transgressive behavior in the workplace. Some critics think that is all just woke nagging. Gordon’s comment hit her pretty hard for a while, after which she decided to leave the table.

The EO has now spoken to Fleur, a spokesperson for the broadcaster tells AD. “After she told a vehement story about transgressive behavior, Gordon’s comment about ‘not being too woke’ went wrong.”

‘It did not work’

In retrospect, Fleur doesn’t think it’s very strong that she walked away from the table. “She would have liked to have reacted wittily, but she couldn’t. We regret that this turned out this way, but we had a good talk afterwards.”

According to the spokesman, Fleur did not talk to Gordon after the broadcast. “Whether the two spoke later is unclear,” reports the AD.
