The project is estimated at 8.5 million euros (incl. VAT) and should help seniors from Oostrozebeke and the surrounding area to continue living independently for longer. “This first stone literally and figuratively lays a solid foundation for care and connection. With this site we bring living, care and meeting together in one place. In this way we create an accessible and integrated care environment that strengthens the independence and well-being of seniors,” says Heidi Van Doorne, zonal director at Curando.
Shape of a rose
The laying of the foundation stone is symbolic: the works started at the end of January. In the meantime, the sewerage and foundation works have been carried out and the floor slab has been poured. The first contours of the building are therefore already visible. The building is designed in the shape of a rose and built around a central courtyard. The design is therefore in line with the local reference to the rose, which in Oostrozebeke is also reflected in names such as OC Mandelroos and residential care center Rozenberg.
Care nearby
“With this new care site we are strengthening care in the neighborhood. Oostrozebeke wants to be a warm municipality where seniors can continue to live in their familiar environment for as long as possible. By working together with Curando and the OCMW, we are building an accessible place where care, meeting and experience are central,” concludes Carine Geldhof, Alderman responsible for the Rozenberg residential care center and for the permit policy.
The new care site is scheduled to be put into use in July 2027.
