KV Oostende has been trying to get rid of the third class since the merger in 1981, but it was only when chairman Eddy Forget the Tandem Raoul Peeters-Ronni Brackx appointed that it also succeeded. The Malinois Raoul Peeters as a strict but affordable head coach, Oostdenaar Ronni as his loyal lieutenant.

In 1992, KVO finally promoted to second class and during the following season the coastal boys surprised by winning the final round and thus moving to first class.
