KV Oostende has been trying to get rid of the third class since the merger in 1981, but it was only when chairman Eddy Forget the Tandem Raoul Peeters-Ronni Brackx appointed that it also succeeded. In 1992, KVO finally promoted to second class and during the following season the coastal boys surprised by winning the final round and thus moving to first class. KVO was in the first class the killed relegation candidate, but again the friend and foe surprised by seventh, on a sigh of European football.
