Oops, I guess I ended up with the Strokes!

The fate of the already proverbial “support band” is often sad enough.

Little or no fee, sometimes there is a crate of mineral water as a salary. Instead of a backstage suite with vegan catering creations, there is a lumber room. Changing next to cleaning buckets and garbage bags. That’s called Rock’n’Roll for hopeful newcomers…

Things looked very different recently in the former grunge stronghold of Seattle in the US West Coast state of Washington. Here, The Strokes were the certainly princely hosted “support act” of the Californication colleagues of the Red Hot Red Hot Chili Peppers, who as part of their current “Unlimited Love” tour at the local “T-Mobile Park” gave an acclaimed (old rocker) guest performance gifts.

And da da ding dong – the New York millionaire children’s band The Strokes, which has also been in business for a few years, were the opener.

No more vocal problems with Eddie Vedder

Especially when you consider that there was a pre-pre-opener: namely the fusion troupe Thundercat, which in turn is also at the top of the posters elsewhere. But that’s not the end of the Seattle name drop:

A rare West Coast bird named Eddie Vedder stunned the audience with a grin when he suddenly appeared at The Strokes’ mic stands. Various US media are rumored that the recent complaints of his voice/throat have largely subsided.

Pearl-Jam-Vedder hopped onto his hometown stage with Julian Casablancas and Albert Hammond Jr. and sang the Strokes semi-classic “Juicebox” from 2006’s First Impressions Of Earth.

A home game treat for the audience. Comparable stunts in this country would be: A member of the dialect giants De Höhner jumps onto the stage at a BAP concert in Cologne, followed by Henning May from AnnenMayKatereit. Or in Hamburg Dirk von Lowtzow sings a shanty with Ina Müller and Schorsch Kamerun from the Golden Lemons.

The popular Eddie

The US rock gossip platform “Uproxx” claims Eddie Vedder could run for mayor of Seattle tomorrow and he would win. The number at The Strokes could still be kept top secret until the end.

No wonder that the social media on the northern west coast spat out enthusiastic fan energy and smartphone photos like a volcano. Euphoria galore to this day…
