English actor Jamie Campbell Bower’s career seems to be on the up. Following the success of Stranger Things season four, in which he played villain Vecna, the 33-year-old guest starred on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. There he read lyrics by Lizzo. But not in his normal, but with his deep Vecna voice.
Incidentally, Campbell Bower was inspired by Hellraiser actor Doug Bradley. “It is said that this deep, menacing voice comes out of the darkness,” he explained. “I loved it. It was great. And I’m a singer, so I just relaxed my larynx.”
Goofing around with Fallon
As usual with Fallon, it was time for a game. Campbell Bower, as Vecna, was supposed to say phrases that the villain would never say. For example “Jack, I want you to draw me like one of your french girls” from Titanic or “In a minute I’ma need a sentimental man or woman to pump me up” from the song “About Damn Time”. Lizzo.
Campbell also revealed that Vecna’s look is 90 percent “real.” The rest is CGI. In order to slip into the outfit, he had to sit in the mask for about 8 hours. As the audience sighed in sympathy, Campbell joked. “Thanks, I feel sorry for myself too.”
More than seven years sober and clean
Campbell recently opened up about years of drug addiction. He announced on Twitter that he was celebrating seven and a half years of sobriety. The 33-year-old was “so grateful to be there”.
12 and a half years ago I was in active addiction. Hurting myself and those around me who I loved the most. It got so bad that eventually I ended up in a hospital for mental health. I am now 7 1/2 years clean and sober. I have made many mistakes in my life
