One of the targets of explosions in Huizen and Hoef and Haag is convicted cannabis grower Stephano R. (32) | Inland

This is apparent from its own research by De Telegraaf and is confirmed by investigative sources. R. from Hoef en Haag was also associated with a number of explosives attacks in the province of Utrecht in 2015 by the judicial authorities, but this was not considered proven by the court.

Explosion

In the early morning of Saturday, July 2, an explosive exploded at R.’s home on 2e Poortstraat in Hoef en Haag. The next morning a projectile went off at a chalet on Westbroekse Binnenweg in Tienhoven. The buildings were then closed. Two homes on the Roef in Huizen in North Holland were immediately closed on Sunday by order of the mayor due to serious safety concerns. Neighbors saw heavily armed officers standing outside the door. They left a few days later, because the danger would have passed. That turned out not to be the case when an explosive went off at one of the closed homes on the Roef in the night from Saturday to Sunday.

On Tuesday, a house on the Zeearend in Nieuwegein was closed due to the same threat. A day later, a building on the Hoevensteinse Lint was closed. On Thursday, the police, who have already stated that a series of threats and explosives are related, indicated that the sting would have left the conflict with the arrest of the 42-year-old man from The Hague. The conflict would take place in the criminal environment and would have to do with a stolen batch of drugs. Multiple arrests are not ruled out.

no stranger

The target Stephano R. is no stranger to the police and the judiciary. In 2015 he was sentenced by the court in Utrecht to a prison term of one and a half years. According to the Public Prosecution Service, he was part of a criminal organization that was involved in growing hemp. The group was also associated with explosives raids in the province of Utrecht and car thefts. At the time of explosives raids in Zeist and Wezep in 2012 and 2013, more than 187,000 euros were allegedly stolen. The court acquitted him and his two co-defendants of preparing and carrying out explosive attacks. The gang was also suspected of the theft of BMWs and Audis in Germany. R. claimed to be innocent at the time.
