On Saturday afternoon, the 28th Schlagermove kicked off in Hamburg. This grand event features a massive parade, star-studded performances, and lively parties in the Hanseatic city. Despite the rainy weather, it is expected that once again, hundreds of thousands will join in the festivities.
Schlagermove: A Colorful Celebration
Around 50 vibrant trucks, decorated with colorful balloons and floral designs, began their journey from Heiligengeistfeld. These trucks, filled to the brim with enthusiastic Schlager fans, will traverse three scenic routes over the Reeperbahn, Hafenstraße, and Millerntorplatz. The first trucks are anticipated to return between 8:00 PM and 8:30 PM, bringing with them heaps of laughter and unforgettable memories.
A Star-Studded Lineup
The excitement on the trucks will be amplified by performances from beloved Schlager artists such as Karl König, Peter Sebastian, Rosanna Rocci, and Peter Orloff. Additionally, DJ Andi B will keep the vibes high at the “Schlagermove Truck Party” on Heiligengeistfeld, running from noon until midnight. Admission to the party is free, although tickets are required for those wishing to ride on the Schlager trucks.
After-Move Party at Docks
This year, the festival has opted for a new setup. “We have relocated our party area from tents to the trucks themselves, allowing for continued celebrations post-move,” shared organizer Axel Annich on NDR 90.3. Admission remains free for all, ensuring everyone can partake in the festivities.
For those seeking a vibrant atmosphere, the official “Schlagermove Aftermove Party” at the Docks on Reeperbahn will kick off from 6 PM. Musical performances by DJ Vossi and The Real DJ Maikel are anticipated to keep spirits soaring. Fans could also warm up for the Schlagermove festivities by attending the “Schlagermove in Concert Open Air” event the night before, featuring numerous Schlager stars.
Traffic and Accessibility
Due to the Schlagermove, many streets in St. Pauli are subject to closures. The Reeperbahn will remain closed until around 3 AM on Sunday. Additionally, pop star Helene Fischer’s second concert in Hamburg will be held later that evening at Volksparkstadion. Authorities advise attendees to use public transport and allocate sufficient time for travel.
Facilities for a Smooth Event
In an effort to maintain cleanliness and prevent public urination, organizers have set up around 500 portable toilets along the parade route. Special mobile urinals for men and dedicated toilet containers with cleaning staff for women have also been installed. Attendees are encouraged to utilize public restrooms and those in local venues that participate in the Schlagermove.
Safety Measures
To ensure the safety of all participants, around 300 medical personnel will be stationed along the route and at Heiligengeistfeld. Security will monitor playgrounds in the area as well. Attendees can discreetly ask for assistance from event staff using the code phrase, “Habt Ihr Softeis?” to signal distress.
An Inclusive Experience
A special “Rollstuhl-Truck” (wheelchair truck) will once again make its appearance this year, allowing wheelchair users to ride along. This initiative, supported by organizations for accident victims and muscular dystrophy assistance, aims to demonstrate that inclusion is indeed possible at events like Schlagermove.
In summary, the Schlagermove in Hamburg stands as one of the nation’s largest Schlager-themed events. Last year, it attracted approximately 300,000 visitors, creating a jubilant atmosphere filled with music, dance, and vibrant costumes from the disco-loving 70s. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this event promises unforgettable moments and a joyful celebration of life.
