For those who can’t get enough of it, a carnival parade through the streets in Someren-Eind one more time. Thousands of people came to watch Karvanstal, the last parade of the year.

Confetti flies through the air and carnival music is shining out of the boxes. Because of Karvanstal it really seems to be carnival in Someren-Eind again. A man is sitting along the route with a big smile to look on his face. “Yes, it’s like we’re celebrating carnival. We also did that well. That started at 3 hours Kes Vurraf and went on for five days,” he says laughing. “This is really just enjoying it.”

The cars that ride come from Wagenbouwers from Brabant and Limburg. So there are also many southern neighbors in the audience. Such as Henk Bekkers from Zwartbroek. “That is with Weert,” he explains. Henk takes photo after photo. “I really like all these big cars. But I think the Limburg cars have more humor.” Henk is a real carnival enthusiast. “I have been celebrating it for sixty years for five days. But today it is all about the parade for me. We will be drinking a beer immediately, but then we will go home again.”

One of the cars that drives is from KPJ Bergeijk. It is a beautifully colored car with dancing fruit around it. One of the builders explains: “It is sunt to tinker in a shed for six months and then only walk one or two parades. This is super fun, we have kept our car especially for Karvanstal. But this is really the very last parade, the car is demolished after this.”

Along the side, two ladies from Leende are visibly enjoying all the cars that pass by. “We come here every year because we really love parades. This year we also went to see Maarheeze, Budel and Soerendonk. A number of those cars are also participating in this. But we also see a lot of beautiful new cars.”

Peter van de Voort is one of the organizers and initiator of Karvanstal. He explains how it started five years ago. “A lot of people love to look at parades. But if you also celebrate carnival, you don’t have time to go off all parades. That’s why we decided to do it again.”

There are nineteen cars, ten from Brabant and nine from Limburg. “There was no southern Dutch championship yet. So we thought, we are going to organize that. Every year more cars do with it and more audience comes to it. That is great. If it is up to me, a new tradition has started.”
