Joey (29) worked himself up day and night to build the dream house for his young family. Together with friends he recovered a house in Cuijk. At the beginning of this month they could finally enjoy it, but less than two weeks later it burns down, one day before the birth of his daughter. “It’s incredible bad luck, we are devastated.”

Joey commits back and forth all day long on Tuesday: between the hospital, where Fleur gave birth, the house of his mother where they slept tonight and their own, burned -down house. The place where the insurer is the damage to the measurement. The young couple is devastated by the fire that destroyed their house, and yet Tuesday is also a beautiful day: “We are going to welcome our daughter and we want to enjoy it,” says Joey Emotional.

“I saw the garage on fire, that was the start of a fierce rollercoaster.”

A big fire caused considerable damage to their house in Cuijk on Monday morning. “My wife was just buying a sandwich. We already knew that she would be introduced on Tuesday afternoon, so we would have lunch one last time with the three of us,” says the father.

He sat on the couch with his daughter of one and a half when he heard a crazy sound: “I went to look and saw the garage on fire. I caught her and the dog and fled out, there the rollercoaster started,” he says. The fire has caused considerable damage to the back of the house in particular, including Van de Dormer and Garage is nothing left. “The fire brigade does not know how it could happen.”

There is almost nothing left of the things of the young family, says Joey. “The living room and kitchen are intact, but have suffered water damage. That also applies to the girls’ bedrooms,” he says Betert.

“We had just finished the house, we could enjoy it for two weeks.”

His wife Fleur will be introduced to the hospital on Tuesday afternoon. “She is very emotional,” says Joey. “Fortunately, the birth is going well,” he sighs. “I also hope she can rest at first, because we both didn’t sleep tonight,” he says.

In the meantime, he is looking for a (temporary) living space for the family with their might. “That is super important for my wife and the baby.” But quickly finding something is not easy: “We now live with my mother, where we can stay as long as necessary. But there is actually too little room for our family, especially with a baby that is not possible,” he says. And so he is looking hard for a rental home or holiday bungalow to stay temporarily: “It can take a year before we can go back to our house.”

Joey is a gatker, which is also apparent from how the dream house came. “We bought it in January, it was a ruin,” he says. In a few months he recovered with completely, since the beginning of June it is ready. The young family was therefore only able to enjoy it for a few weeks. “It was our dream house, it really was. All the money we had was in this.”

And now? “I would prefer to rebuild this house, but that depends on the damage and insurance.” On Tuesday he has something else on his head: “My wife is really devastated.” Then his voice lights up: “And yet she moves land and water today to make a child,” he says proudly. “A healthy child is the most important thing, we are going to try to enjoy the moment.”
