The 39-year-old Tomasz K. became arrested On suspicion of involvement in the two explosions. On November 25, fireworks were placed at the entrance of the hospital and exploded. A day later, the suspect sprinkled a liquid against the facade. This first led to a small fire and then – again – to an explosion.

Temporarily released?

In the court of Alkmaar, the first preparatory session took place in the case on Monday morning. In it, the public prosecutor stated that the suspect had the explosives go off ‘purely for the money’. According to the prosecutor, K. has admitted his involvement.

The defense wants Tomasz K. to be able to wait in freedom to handle his case.

The public prosecutor opposed this request. According to the Public Prosecution Service, there is still a sense of unrest and insecurity among staff, patients and local residents of the hospital, “it has certainly been shown that it was apparently the intention that the second explosion would be greater than the first.”
