Olhaco continues to lose in the Top Division

VOLLEYBALL – Olhaco from Hoogeveen is again unable to take any points home. On a visit to AVV Keistad in Apeldoorn, the team lost 3-0 (21-25, 17-25, 21-25). Olhaco therefore remains behind in the top division with 4 points from 13 games. Yet this defeat feels different from last week, when they went down against their direct competitor EVV from Elburg.

After last week’s disappointing defeat, Olhaco’s coach, Menno Volkerink, has changed the line-up in a number of places. For example, the young playmaker Stef Hooijer got the chance to prove himself today. AVV Keistad is second in the Top Division and is competing for the championship.

Error load too high

The Hoogeveners lost the first set due to too many mistakes in the decisive phase. “We had a little too much respect for our opponent,” said Volkerink. The second set started with a fantastic service run by 41-year-old Sander Kemperman. He beat Olhaco to a 9-2 lead, forcing Keistad to bring their top player onto the field. That turned out well, because the second set went to the team from Apeldoorn 25-17. In the third set, Olhaco followed the title candidates from Apeldoorn for a long time, but too many mistakes were made in this set in the decisive phase.

With a good feeling from the field

Volkerink gets a lot of positive points from this match: “In the third set we were on the field with six A-juniors. They were able to keep up with the experienced opponents.” According to Volkerink, the young inexperienced team needs a lot of confidence in the coming period. “But we have to work hard to take the step forward.”

Next week, Olhaco will compete against Webton from Hengelo. The Sudosa-Desto match has been postponed for the third week in a row.
