Official: Lamkel Zé to KV Kortrijk

The 25-year-old Cameroonian signed, after several detours, a contract for three seasons with KV Kortrijk. The West Flemish first division team announced this on Monday.

For a long time it looked like Lamkel Zé would continue his football career abroad. Antwerp announced at the end of last month that it had found a solution for its enfant terrible, who would move to the Cypriot Omonoia FC. Lamkel Zé only had to pass the medical tests and sign the contract. However, on his arrival in Cyprus, the attacker refused “for personal reasons” to take the medical tests. Lamkel Zé reportedly received an offer from Hungarian champion Ferencvaros, which made him refuse to sign with Omonoia.

New chance

At KV Kortrijk, the wing attacker gets a new chance to prove himself in the highest football competition in our country. Omonoia FC announced shortly after the debacle that it would take legal action with the World Football Association FIFA. Didier Lamkel Zé settled on the Bosuil in 2018. In total, the technically skilled Cameroonian winger played 88 matches for Antwerp and scored 21 goals.

Because of his antics, he ended up sidetracked near Antwerp. Loans followed to the Slovak Dunajska Streda (2021), the Russian Khimki (2022) and the French Metz (2022). Lamkel Zé was still under contract with Antwerp for one year. He trained with the B-team this summer.

Strengthen offensive

At Kortrijk, Lamkel Zé must provide more offensive threat. The Guys currently have four points from five games and have only found their way to goal three times so far.

Only Cercle Brugge does worse with two goals scored.
