La Molina (AP) – The Australian professional cyclist Ben O’Connor has taken the overall lead after winning the third stage of the 101st Tour of Catalonia.

After 161.1 kilometers from Perpignan to La Molina, the 26-year-old was able to prevail in front of the Spaniard Juan Ayuso and the Colombian Nairo Quintana and now also leads the overall tableau in front of this duo. It was the third stage win by an Australian in this year’s edition of the seven-day tour.

On Thursday, the tour continues with the fourth leg over 166.7 kilometers from La Seu d’Urgell to the mountain finish at Boí Taüll. The race ends after seven stages on Sunday in Barcelona.
