The Gallagher brothers retire. After 41 concerts, Oasis announce an indefinite break and talk about reflection. What’s behind it.

Oasis spoke out on social media after the end of their sold-out comeback tour. In a posting with several photos of past performances, they announced a break.

Gratitude and sadness

After their final gig of the “Oasis Live ’25” tour last Sunday, November 23rd, social media was flooded with concert recordings and messages of thanks from fans. The band left the 65,000 fans in attendance with the promise of a reunion, which was not specified. A few band members also shared their gratitude and sadness at the end of a tour that was long considered impossible. On Tuesday, November 25, the group emerged from cover one last time for an indefinite period of time.

The reunion tour spanned 145 days and included 41 performances. The final concert of the “Oasis Live ’25” tour took the group to São Paulo, Brazil. The almost four-month journey through their musical past took the artists to Great Britain, Europe, Asia, Australia and America.

Band announces break – a phase of reflection is imminent

“And so it happened,” the group wrote in a message to their fans, before quoting the title of a scathing article by journalist Simon Price about the Oasis reunion: “‘The most damaging pop cultural force in recent British history’ found its way into the hearts and minds of a new generation.”

The British continued in the caption: “From Gallagher Hill to the Río de la Plata, from Croke Park on the Canal Royal to Los Angeles, the love, the joy, the tears and the euphoria will remain unforgotten.”

Following the emotional lines, the band announced that they wanted to take a break. The Oasis members want to use the free time for targeted reflection. With this brief but meaningful message, the group ended their post and said goodbye to the spotlight for the time being.

That’s what lies behind it

The quote the band included in their tour recap post came from a review of Oasis by journalist Simon Price. In the opinion piece published in The Guardian in 2024, Price wondered why everyone was so excited about the Britpop band’s reunion – especially the media.

The author accused his colleagues of reporting “unilaterally positive” about Liam and Noel Gallagher and forgetting the numerous “homophobic insults” that the Gallagher brothers have made in the past.

Why the artists included the quote and what they wanted to achieve with it is not clear from their contribution.
