The chip group Nvidia wants to transfer its dominance in technology for artificial intelligence in data centers with robots into the real world.

Nvidia boss Jensen Huang presented a platform at the in-house GTC developer conference GTC to accelerate the development of humanoid robots. The entertainment giant Disney (Walt Disney) and Google’s AI company Deepmind are also involved in the initiative called Isaac Groot.

Robot “will be a very, very large industry,” said Huang. Just because on the Labor market At the end of this decade, at least 15 million employees would be missing for some activities. But also beyond: “Everything that moves will be autonomous.” Robot would need huge amounts of data to train and would have to understand their environment, emphasized Huang. Nvidia wants to cover all the building blocks: training and testing the AI software as well as the use in the real world.

Peded like a rock star

Nvidia chips became a key technology for artificial intelligence. First of all, the systems around the world were used primarily for training applications with artificial intelligence. Tech giants like Google or the Facebook group Meta Platforms) fill entire data centers-but also put AI start-ups such as the Chatgpt Finder Firma Openaai. This position had the NVIDIA business grow explosively in recent years.

The GTC is the annual NVIDIA event, in which the group traditionally gives an outlook on the future. Huang was celebrated again this time like a rock star. In his usual leather jacket, he shot T-shirts into the audience before the start of his more than two-hour lecture. According to his own statements, he waived a teleprompter.

“Ki factories”

The Nvidia boss speaks of data centers as “AI factories” in which computer performance is for artificial intelligence. “Every industry that produces something will have two factories in the future,” said Huang. One will manufacture the physical products as before – and the second will deliver the software for it.

In addition to robots, there were also many other announcements:

* New chip systems: Nvidia wants to meet the rapidly growing need for computing power for artificial intelligence with the next generation of its AI computers. The new system called “Vera Rubin” is scheduled to come onto the market in autumn 2026, said Huang. Rubin and the further development of the current Blackwell platform for this year should drastically reduce the costs for the operation of AI software compared to previous technology. The next generation is named after Vera Rubin – an American astronomer who made important discoveries in dark matter.

* AI computer for the desktop: With DGX Spark and DGX station, Nvidia wants to offer developers of artificial intelligence and researchers more computing power. The current AI chips called “Blackwell” are also in them.

* Robot cars: When developing technology for autonomous driving, Nvidia won the US car giants General Motors as customers for his computer systems and software. GM had recently given up the years of development of robotaxis under the roof of the Cruise company.

* Digital twins: Nvidia relies on training robots, self-driving cars and other AI systems with the help of simulations. This allows developers to play countless situations through in a short time. Under the name Cosmos, Nvidia offers software that simulates real environments in photo -realistic videos.

100 times more computing power than expected

At the same time, Huang tried to dispel concerns from investors that the world could get by with less AI in the future – and that the expectations of the future business of Nvidia could also be too high.

Overall, the world is about to generate answers with the help of artificial intelligence instead of calling up stored answers. In particular, the new AI models, which can build a chain of argument step by step, are hungry for performance.

Huang demonstrated as an example of how the Chinese model Deepseek R1 needed 150 times more computing power than traditional AI software to calculate the seating arrangement at a wedding from traditions and the relationship between individual family members. The conventional model also failed due to the task.

In total, you need 100 times more computing capacity than accepted a year ago, said Huang. It shouldn’t have been a coincidence that he selected Deepseek for demonstration. R1 is said to have been trained with significantly less computing effort than previous AI models. A few weeks ago, this triggered a drop in the Nvidia share. However, Huang argues that the actual need for computing power will not arise during training, but when the answers were created.

Schneider Electric and Nvidia want to work together

Schneider Electric and Nvidia want to work together. As those of the US chip manufacturers and the French group announced, they want to create “digital twins” of electricity-hungry AI data centers in order to control them more efficiently. Virtual representations of data centers would enable improved designs to better manage electricity consumption. The AI revolution and its extreme demand for data centers have raised the electricity consumption.

The creation of a “virtual replica of the electrical infrastructure” contributes to an improvement in operation and reducing the electricity requirement, said Schneider’s Executive Vice President Pankaj Sharma. The integration of AI into this process means that AI technology helps with the design of efficient processes.

However, investors were initially not quite convincing: the Nvidia share closed on Tuesday with a minus of 3.43 percent. On Wednesday, however, she again gains 1.01 percent to $ 116.60 in pre-exchangeable NASDAQ trading.
