Nuno Espírito Santo led Nottingham to the European Cup for the first time in 30 years. But he may miss participation.

The signs at Nottingham Forest indicate a possible separation from successful coaches Nuno Espírito Santo. According to information from the TV station Sky, the indications that the Portuguese could lose its post promptly.

The background is the tense relationship between Espírito Santo and club owner Evangelo’s Marinakis. On Friday, Santo said that his relationship with Marinakis was “no longer the same” and “not as good as last season”. These words have triggered significant frowning internally, Sky reports. Parts of the club guidance would doubt the coach’s identification with the club.

According to Sky, the time of his criticism also triggered lack of understanding: Because the statements came only two days before the important duel with Crystal Palace. In the association, this public positioning is rated as risky – and as a possible maneuver in order to provoke a discharge itself.

Marinakis had recently clearly relied on the trainer: the equivalent of more than 100 million euros has been invested in four new players in the past two weeks – a clear sign of trust. The fact that Espírito Santo is now publicly at a distance from the owner and apparently also for anger.

Cooperation with the new Global Head of Football, Edu, is the possible reason for recent dissatisfaction. The Brazilian was installed in July to coordinate the strategic direction of all clubs in the Marinakis empire-including Olympiacos Piraeus and Rio Ave. The relationship should be considered difficult between him and Espírito Santo.
