The new outdoor play research of Kind & Society shows that the number of children who play outside has fallen by 28.3 percent in five years. Girls from the age of 12 in particular disappear en masse from the public space. Flemish Minister for Youth Melissa Depraetere (Vooruit) emphasizes the importance of urgent measures: “We have to bet extra on outdoor games. This can be done by investing in more play areas and hanging areas, and by creating a safe living environment for children and young people.”
