NS staff on strike: longer travel time throughout the country, more frequent transfers and busier roads | Inland

In Noord-Holland itself, hardly any NS trains run throughout the day. Due to the intertwining of the strike area with the timetable, travelers everywhere in the Netherlands may be affected by the action. Schiphol Airport has limited access from Utrecht Central. The NS only asks people to go to Schiphol by train if there is really no other way to get there.

International train passengers will also feel the strike on Monday. Thalys and Eurostar don’t run like that at all. Other international trains run less or only run part of the route.

The ANWB expects it to be busier on the roads around Amsterdam on Monday, partly because of the strike. Nevertheless, the rush hours will not be extremely busy, the ANWB thinks, partly because people probably decide to work from home because of the train strike.

NS personnel are taking action because of the failed collective labor agreement negotiations between NS and the trade unions FNV, CNV and VVMC.
