The hockey World Cup makes a comeback.
The NHL and the NHLPa player association announced in the 4 Nations tournaments that the last tournament in 2016 will be played again from February 2028.
NHL players will also participate in the Olympics in the year. The goal is for NHL players to continue to measure superiority in national teams every two years.
It is noteworthy at the 2028 World Cup that the International IIHF International Ice Hockey Association is not involved.
– This is our tournament for our players. We work with the country hockey unions, but this is a completely NHL Tournament, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman Said at a news conference at Montréal’s Bell Center.
Bettman estimates that there will be “at least eight teams” in the World Cup.
However, the World Cup would not be able to see combination teams as in 2016, when the Tournament participated in the North American 23-year-old and younger team and team from the smaller reel countries in Europe.
Players playing in European series should not be selected for the tournament.
The 2028 tournament playgrounds have not yet been decided. The NHL will also receive offers from Europe.
The tournament is played in an NHL-size rink, NHL rules and NHL judges.
The NHL’s recent decision on the World Cup can be seen as a follow -up to the problems of the NHL and IIHF to a consensus.
