At the French Open (Roland Garros), the second grand slam tennis tournament of the season, the men’s 3rd seeded Novak Djokovic defeated Aleksandar Kovacevic 3-0 to reach the second round.
In the men’s singles first round match in the morning session of the 2nd day of the tournament held in the capital, Paris, 2016 and 2021 champions Djokovic and Kovacevic in the 114th place of the world rankings faced each other. Djokovic won the match 3-0 with sets 6-3, 6-2 and 7-6.
World number 52 Fabio Fognini, one of the successful names on the soil, defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime (seeded 10) 3-0 (6-4, 6-4, 6-3) and eliminated his opponent in the first round.
Cameron Norrie (14) won his first round fight with Benoit Paire, who was invited to the event, 3-2 after 3.5 hours.
12th seed Belinda Bencic was eliminated in the first round. Elina Avanesyan, who was in the 134th place of the classification, who participated in the tournament from the eliminations, beat Bencic with a score of 2-1 (6-3, 2-6, 6-4).
World 30th Sloane Stephens, who played in the 2018 French Open final, beat Karolina Pliskova (16) 2-0 (6-0, 6-4) and went on the tour.
