Nosebleed does not upset Sudosa-Desto against Sliedrecht Sport

The volleyball players of Visser Assen/Sudosa-Desto continue to perform excellently in the Premier League. This time Sliedrecht Sport was put aside 3-2.

“I didn’t think we played very well,” coach Mark Afman said about the win. “But we have always kept faith in a result. Ultimately, she succeeded through willpower. Then one team had the upper hand, then the other team was better again. In that respect it could have gone either way.”

After a difficult start (25-14), in which Afman had to adjust his position before the first whistle due to a bloody nose from Kirsten Wessels, a serving series from Eline Mosselaar at the beginning of the second set caused the turnaround.

The mid player served her team from a 3-0 deficit to a 6-3 lead, after which the Assen team equalized 25-19 thanks to the high-scoring Paula Boonstra. Sliedrecht Sport again took the initiative at 25-18 in the third set.

Sudosa-Desto countered with 25-17. The victory was never in danger again in the decisive fifth set. Wessels immediately created a 3-0 lead with her serve. Halfway through, Afman’s team already led 8-2, after which Lynn van Mill scored the winning point at 15-11.
