WOnsan (North Korea), Jul 3 (askanews)-North Korea inaugurated a huge tourist area on its eastern coast: a project strongly desired by the leader Kim Jong-un and which according to state media should welcome Russian guests since the end of the month.
The coastal area of Wonsan Kalma can host almost 20,000 people according to Pyongyang, who previously described it as “a world -class cultural resort”, and has been open to visitors. The official agency Korean Central News Agency has released images of tourists in colored swimsuit enjoying the beach.
Visitors were “amazed by the size and splendor of the tourist city, where more than 400 … buildings with artistic design run along the white sand beach” have reported the official media. According to the South Korean news agency Yonhap, a group of Russian tourists will visit the area for the first time on July 7th.
Last week the North Korean leader had declared that the construction of the site would be considered “one of this year’s largest successes” and that the North would build other large -scale tourist areas “as soon as possible”.
