Next pole: Norris reports back – surprise behind it

The Brit shows a strong performance in qualifying and gets starting place one. Behind it, a star goes unexpectedly in second place. The only German in the field, on the other hand, experiences a debacle.
Lando Norris has secured the pole position at the Grand Prix of Austria. The McLaren pilot drove the fastest time in qualifying in Spielberg on Saturday and starts at the Grand Prix on Sunday (from 3 p.m. in the live ticker at T-Online) from the forefront. It is already Norris’ third pole of the current season.
Ferrari-Pilot Charles Leclerc, surprisingly, came in second place, third was Norris’ teammate Oscar Piatri. World champion Max Verstappen, who had secured the pole in the past four years, did not get over position seven in the Red Bull, and he had to cancel his last round. “The car is completely wrong. It is worse than before. I don’t know what to say,” the Dutcher complained during the starting point hunt about missing grip.
The only German driver in the field, Nico Hülkenberg, cost a mistake in curve four in the kick. The Rhinelander braked and landed in the disappointing last place after the first ko round. “Bitter,” said Hülkenberg at Sky. Now it is all the more difficult for the 37-year-old to go to the points for the third time in a row. Hülkenberg’s teammate Gabriel Bortoleto meanwhile shone as an eighth.
