The Nordic World Ski Championships 2025 in Trondheim will take place without a big favorite: Norwegian Tiril Udnes Weng has been suffering from Pfeiffer’s glandular fever for weeks. She had specifically bought an apartment at the World Cup venue.
Few athletes are likely to have had such expensive preparation for a Nordic World Ski Championships as Tiril Udnes Weng and her sister Lotta. The 28-year-old Norwegian had bought an apartment with her sister on the World Cup routes in Trondheim.
But now the overall World Cup winner from 2022/23 will miss the title fights in her home country. The Norwegian suffers from Pfeiffer’s glandular fever and has no chance of taking part in the home World Cup, which begins at the end of February.
Weng sad: “Terrible to miss this folk festival”
“I’ve been sick for four weeks and still am”said the 2021 and 2023 relay world champion on the Norwegian broadcaster NRK. It therefore remains a bitter story for them after buying an apartment right next to the World Cup trails in Trondheim.
At least Lotta can now prepare well for the title fights at home. Tiril Udnes Weng is currently still considering whether she will support her sister during the title fights – or leave town. “I don’t think I’ll be in Trondheim. It’s terrible to miss this festival”she said.
