Andries Noppert (23) was one of the shooting stars of the Dutch at the World Cup – and that at the age of 28. While his team-mate has already found a new job in Liverpool FC, the SC Heerenveen goalkeeper could also be moving to another club in the winter. Interest in the keeper has increased significantly since the tournament in Qatar, where he made his debut for Elftal.
“This is a special moment, you don’t have to know much about football to realize that,” said Noppert (quoted via “Voetbal International‘) on Wednesday at a press conference specially convened for him by Heerenveen on the occasion of his return from the World Cup. A longer stay in Friesland is by no means a punishment, emphasized Noppert, who still has a contract until 2024. “I’m at my dream club, playing for SC Heerenveen is something special for me. But if the club can make good money, this could be the right moment,” said Noppert, who summed it up aptly: “We can make it very complicated, but actually it’s very simple: whether I go or not, it would be in both cases Good.”
Noppert was recently one of the market value winners in the World Cup update and was revalued from 2 to 5 million euros – at the beginning of the year he was valued at 125,000 euros. Overall, his value increased by 3,900 percent in 2022, making him one of the players with the largest percentage jump in market value (to the statistics).

Noppert’s development hardly predictable – now traded with Ajax, among others
This development was hardly foreseeable. Almost two years ago, Noppert, who was born in Heerenveen, was without a club for the second time in a short space of time. The goalkeeper, who is 2.03 meters tall, was under contract with FC Dordrecht in the second division until the summer of 2020, but was unable to assert himself there – as was the case at youth club Heerenveen, NAC Breda and Calcio Foggia in Italy’s Serie B. After leaving South Holland, his wife is said to have advised him to hang up his gloves and try a new start with the police.
Now he is traded at Real Betis or Ajax Amsterdam, for example. “De Telegraaf“ recently reported that the goalkeeper is at the top of the record champions’ wish list – in return, U21 national goalkeeper Jay Gorter (22) could move to Heerenveen on loan. Clubs from Serie A and Premier League are also said to be interested in Noppert, even if it has not yet been concrete. “Let’s just wait and see what happens. As long as nothing else comes up, and that’s still the case, I’m in my place here,” said Noppert.
