Russell to P1
George Russell goes to the fastest time. The Mercedes driver is one step faster than Lando Norris. He is three tenths below the time of his compatriot. Kimi Antonelli goes to P2, two-tenths behind teammate Russell.
Verstappen opens well
Max Verstappen is out and well on his way. He is three tenths behind Lando Norris, but that is mainly due to a moment in the last sector. In the first two sectors Verstappen was under the time of the McLaren driver. George Russell is on his way a lot faster.
Leclerc won’t make it
Charles Leclerc seemed to take over the fastest time, but the Ferrari driver is a few thousandths of a second slower. Can Ferrari move on? join the battle with Mercedes and McLaren?
Norris to the fastest time
Lando Norris sets a much faster time in this third free practice. The McLaren driver, who finished P1 yesterday, drives a 1:16.6. The comparison material for the British rider is on its way, because Charles Leclerc has started a fast lap.
More and more action
There is a bit more action on the track. Drivers from Williams, Haas, Aston Martin and Audi are currently outside. The riders now roll onto the circuit one by one.
Hülkenberg to P1 in quiet session
Nico Hülkenberg is currently the only driver on the track. The German immediately sets the fastest time of this session on the mediums. Nothing more is happening in Barcelona at the moment. Most of the action will erupting in about five minutes.
Bottas the fastest
Valtteri Bottas is currently the fastest of the Cadillac drivers. The rest of the other riders have no rush yet.
Very quiet
Riders now put on their helmets one by one. The third free practice always starts late. Teams often have enough for two free training sessions and this last training session is not at all representative of qualifying and the race, because they are run at different times. So it is for now very quiet on the track.
Green lights!
We have started the third free practice in Barcelona. Valtteri Bottas, who could barely take action due to problems with his car, and teammate Sergio Pérez drove out. A large part of the field decides still nice to stay in the garage.
Master forecaster Hajar
In addition to Formula 1, Isack Hadjar is also mainly concerned with the Football World Cup. The Red Bull Racing driver makes some predictions for tonight and tonight. For the time being, his Scorito pool is doing well.
‘Il Fenomeno’ at Mercedes
Only 19 years old, winner of the last five races in a row and already top favorite for the world title in his second Formula 1 season. Andrea Kimi Antonelli is hot, after years of maturing within Mercedes. “Toto Wolff has given him plenty of room to grow.”
Mercedes and McLaren impress
George Russell and Lando Norris topped the time lists so far this weekend. Russell was at a lonely height in the first free practice, but the Mercedes driver suddenly suffered in the second free practice accompanied by the two McLaren drivers. Norris was even a bit faster than his compatriot and finished the day with the fastest time.
Behind McLaren and Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull Racing follow at a great distance. Charles Leclerc was almost four tenths slower and Max Verstappen was only behind by nine tenths. The difficult conditions do not make it any easier for the drivers, making it difficult to drive the perfect lap in qualifying later this afternoon.
Tropical scenes
In the Netherlands we still have to wait a while for summer weather, but in Barcelona the sun is shining brightly. This weekend, drivers, mechanics and fans have to take warm temperatures and a scorching sun into account. Today and tomorrow the thermostat is ticking tropical values with temperatures around 31 degrees.
This means that the asphalt temperature will rise considerably this weekend. The values are around fifty degrees. So the drivers have to go tomorrowshould fit on the tires.
Complaining Verstappen
Max Verstappen does not yet feel comfortable in the RB22 this weekend. The driver was well behind after the two free practice sessions. Mercedes and McLaren in particular were strong on Friday.
“I don’t think we can compete for the top positions, this is where we are,” Verstappen admitted honestly. Nevertheless, the driver is in the same boat as his colleagues. „It didn’t feel right on any tirebut that seemed to be the case with everyone. I was following some people and there is no grip, the cars are sliding a lot. If we compare it from our side to the top, we had a little more trouble with the balance, but I don’t think anyone had a good balance today.”

Live blog during the weekend
During the entire race weekend we will of course have a live blog to keep you informed of everything that is going on in and around the circuit in Barcelona. This way you don’t have to miss anything from the race weekend where Max Verstappen won his first Grand Prix.
Good afternoon!
It is time for the teams to put the finishing touches towards qualifying later this afternoon. Due to the tropical temperatures in Barcelona, there is still plenty to learn and there is still plenty to do for a number of teams work to be done. The third free practice will start at 12.30 p.m., but the drivers usually have to wait a while.
