A public dispute runs between two football sizes. T-online columnist Stefan Effenberg is clearly taking a position-and explains why. In advertising around Nick Woltemade, however, he warns FC Bayern.

The 4: 2 of FC Bayern in the round of 16 of the club World Cup against Flamengo impressed me-for special reasons. Because the Munichers passed in Miami on Sunday afternoon under the most difficult conditions. About 30 degrees in the Hard rock stage, plus an uncomfortable opponent who is used to playing at such temperatures – you have to do that first. Vincent Kompany and his players have now even passed this challenge twice, and the preliminary round game against the Boca Juniors finally took place in Miami. This is impressive and yet shows what quality is in the team.

But – and this is a big one – now it is really serious for Bayern. In the quarter-finals, the pairing of the game is now waiting for the Champions League final in Munich: Bayern Munich against Paris Saint-Germain. This is the absolute test for the German record champion. Because the truth is: Bayern are currently not an absolute elite in world football. For me, the current number one is PSG – not only because of the victory in the final of the “premier class” a few weeks ago. They won 5: 0 there against Inter Milan – in the final of the largest continental tournament in club football. In this impressive form, the Parisians would also have won against a world selection.

Of course, Bayern are also able to beat PSG – but they need an absolute cream day, on which a lot does not work if not everything works.

I am therefore convinced that if you win this game in Atlanta next Saturday, you will also get the title at this club World Cup.

What makes PSG for me: this greed. Coach Luis Enrique has shaped a team that works. A team that is hungry who wants to prove something, with Ousmane Dembélé, who already seemed to have failed elsewhere, with Bradley Barcola and Desiré Doué in the offensive external positions, with the Portuguese Vitinha in central midfield – and between the posts with Gianluigi Donnarumma, the best goalkeeper in the world.

In Paris they first had to learn what it means not to simply buy superstars with a lot of money, but to put together a squad in which the chemistry is right. For years they have tried unsuccessfully with the greatest name, from Lionel Messi and Neymar to Kylian Mbappé. But now there is a team together that is too much more able and can dominate Europe in the coming years. I therefore easily trust them to defend the Champions League title next season.

Bayern also want to go there again – with Nick Woltemade, who has now moved to the center of the transfer efforts in Munich. And rightly right – I recently emphasized that it would be negligent from Bayern not to try this player. Because Woltemade went through a very remarkable development last season, has become the main factor in the game of VfB Stuttgart, now also made his debut in the A national team.

The step to Bayern would not be too early for him now, but just right – even in the thought that he will make further progress in daily training with world stars as teammates.
