No significant role Markus and Neefjes at the first gravel World Cup

There was no success for the North Holland cyclists at the first gravel World Championship. Riejanne Markus (De Zwarte Kat) and Tessa Neefjes (Wervershoof) finished tenth and thirteenth respectively. France’s Pauline Ferrand-Prévot was the winner.

For the first time in history, the World Championship clay will be held this weekend. The Italian Veneto is the setting for this. In the early stages of the race Markus rode in a leading group of three cyclists. Later, the cyclist from De Zwarte Kat dropped back into the peloton.

Behind a leading group of five riders a peloton with fifteen riders arose. This included Markus and Neefjes. The pursuers drove into a wrong road, which increased the lead. After this Markus and Neefjes could no longer break pots. Ferrand-Prevot crossed the finish line just before Sina Frei.
