The research comes on top of the pile of evidence that the Dinoterb dust forbidden since 1998 would not be secretly used by farmers in the area. “As far as we are concerned, the research into Dinoterb has been completed with this,” says Jos Beemsterboer of the water board.

The carcinogenic agent, which can be harmful to pregnant women in particular, suddenly appeared in several North Holland waters last year, such as Swan Water and the Drieban.

According to the Mobilization for the Environment (MOB) environmental organization, it could only be other than that a bulb farmer left a few bottles from the basement to protect its floriculture. Farmers denounced the accusations and claimed that the stuff would still be in the water from the past, and slowly drifts up.

Now a new study shows that the measurement results are incorrect at all. A different substance was accidentally measured in the lab, which looks like Dinoterb, but does not come from the surface water, but among other things from the tubes of the lab.

Contamination in the lab

No prohibited agricultural poison that is still secretly used, but false positive measurements. According to the external research agency, there may have been contamination in the lab.
