After Zendaya recently speculated that Euphoria would end after the upcoming third season, series creator Sam Levinson has confirmed that it is currently There are “no plans” for a sequel.

Speaking to Variety on the red carpet for the Season 3 premiere, Levinson explained that he writes “each season as if it were the last,” adding that he has “no plans” for a fourth season. The creator said he is focused on delivering a strong third season.

“I want to finish this as strong as I can,” Levinson said. “I’m still editing episodes seven and eight. I’m putting the finishing touches on. I just want to deliver an amazing season.”

Zendaya believes in the end

Last week, in an interview on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” Zendaya said she believes the third season of “Euphoria” will be the last. Barrymore directly asked if this was the final season of the hit HBO series, to which Zendaya replied, “I think so, yes.” Zendaya largely left it at that, but when Barrymore said she thought it was good to know the “inner attitude” with which one goes into a possible final season, Zendaya interrupted her: “That conclusion is coming.”

“Euphoria” Season 3 premieres April 12 on HBO. It’s been four years since the acclaimed second season, and alongside Zendaya, much of the regular cast returns, including Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, Colman Domingo and Eric Dane – in one of his final filmed appearances following his death earlier this year. It is also the first “Euphoria” season without Angus Cloud, who played Fez and died in July 2023.

Levinson told Variety the new episodes will honor Cloud and keep him “alive” through the story. “Losing Angus was really difficult for us as a production. I loved him very much,” said Levinson. “I fought hard to keep him clean.”

He added: “I wanted to process that. I wanted to deal with questions of faith, with a power greater than ourselves. What it means to surrender your life and your will to God, as you understand him.”

Levinson also spoke about the loss of Dane, who helped produce Season 3. Levinson told Dane there was “no pressure” to return, but the actor wanted it.

“When he showed up, I noticed his pronunciation was a little slurred,” Levinson said. “He was a little self-conscious and I said, ‘That’s perfect. We’ll put five bottles of beer in front of you and you’ll say all the shit you’d never say sober.’ And we just had a lot of fun filming it. We had 28 cast members for the wedding on Saturday. There were people everywhere and he just showed up with so much dignity and poise. He’s a true professional through and through and I miss him.”
