No new rescue attempt for the stranded fishing cutter and tugboat due to bad weather for the time being

The fishing vessel on the beach of Zandvoort will remain there for a while. After an earlier failed rescue attempt, it was decided to wait until Sunday before taking action again. The bad weather is in the way of the rescuers.

A spokesperson for Rijkswaterstaat tells NH that a salvage operation is ‘not on the agenda for the time being due to the bad weather’.

Both the fishing vessel and the tugboat who were also stranded after an initial rescue operation, are now safe, the spokesperson said. “If you were to tow, a dangerous situation could arise. Then it could get worse and the boats could even sink, the boats are now safely moored.”

Despite the strong winds forecast today, the situation remains safe for both boats, according to the spokesperson. It is not yet entirely clear when a new attempt will be made. “Not until the weekend or after, I don’t dare say exactly yet.”
