No longer at but behind the bar: Robert is only 25 and already a pub owner

There will be no more beers for Robert Indermaur in Tommy’s Café in Wieringerwerf, because the 25-year-old has been the new owner of the pub since December 1. He takes over the store from Bo Lee, who says goodbye to her business after years for a quieter life without working late into the night.

The young entrepreneur, who is also a welcome guest in the café, is eager to take over the pub where young and old have been coming together for a pleasant evening for years. And although Robert has long had the ambition to become a catering entrepreneur, that dream actually looked slightly different for him. “I always thought it would be fun to start a café in Spain or Italy, for example,” he says, sitting on a bar stool in his pub.

But Bo sees Robert as the ideal successor for her cozy pub with many regular guests, and therefore asked him a year and a half ago if he would like to take over the place. “Then I said no. After that she asked me two more times. Finally I thought, maybe it is something for me after all.”

Bo has now said goodbye to her pub and regulars with a big party and the key has been handed over to Robert. After years, the typical brown pub Tommy’s Café has come to an end and it continues as Rob’s Café. But not much will change, the young entrepreneur assures.
