‘No, Fidan Ekiz will not join VI’

Wilfred Genee is unrelenting: Fidan Ekiz will not join the men of Today Inside even after the disappearance of Op1. “Yes, that is indeed the case, yes,” he confirms.

Fidan Ekiz is furious that her talk show Op1 is disappearing from the air, because, according to her, there are political reasons behind it. The program must make way for Khalid & Sophie and, according to the presenter, this was chosen to form a left-progressive front against Geert Wilders, after his enormous election victory.

‘It is correct’

A remarkable story, says René van der Gijp. “Would that be true?” he wonders in Today Inside.

Colleague Johan Derksen: “No, that’s not right.”

Wilfred Genee jokes: “Of course it’s true! Otherwise I’ll be blamed again! No, continue, yes.”

According to Hélène Hendriks, Fidan’s statements are correct. “It has actually been said. It is just not widely accepted in the NPO that this is the case, but it has been said.”

On the air

It is unclear what information Hélène has, but she supports Fidan in this matter. “She doesn’t mention the source, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t said. I understand that you don’t feel strongly about not mentioning a source, but it is not just about throwing something into the ether and seeing where it ends up.”

Johan: “I like Sven and Fidan and I think it’s a shame that those two are leaving. And Sven is very welcome here…”

Wilfred: “Yes.”

Johan: “…and Fidan can’t get in.”

‘That’s how it is!’

Wilfred confirms that: “No.”

Johan: “Hey, that’s how it is, isn’t it?”

Wilfred: “Yes, that is indeed the case, yes.”

Hélène: “But he can come to De Oranjewinter, no problem.”

Johan: “Can I come sometime with Fidan?”

Wilfred has been blocking Fidan’s arrival for years, because she once interviewed him critically on TV, while as her then mentor he expected preferential treatment. It led to an extremely violent shouting match after the broadcast.

Conspiracy theory

Beau van Erven Dorens thinks Fidan’s story sounds very strong. “It looks like a species conspiracy theory that Fidan Ekiz is displaying here,” he says in his talk show.

Table guest Jan Slagter: “She says she has questions about it. She doesn’t have the answer to it, but she wonders this and I understand her reaction very well.”

And Angela de Jong: “I think it is a very understandable emotional reaction from her, if you also know what the history is with De Vooravond and the struggle she has waged.”
