Wildlands was visited about as many times last year as the year before. In total, around 951,000 guests came to the zoo in Emmen.

The zoo has managed to keep visitor numbers the same after an eventful year. 2025 was all about 90 years of Zoo in Emmen with various activities such as an exhibition and reunion of former colleagues. In addition, a lot happened in the animal field, especially with the elephants, and the park was featured in the NTR program ‘Real life in the Zoo.’

Since 2022, after the corona pandemic, the number of visitors has been increasing again. That year, 830,000 people took a look at the park. In 2024, there were 25,000 more visitors than the year before due to “involvement of season ticket holders”. This increased the number to 951,000 visitors.

2026 is also an anniversary year. The park, which opened its doors in March 2016, is celebrating its tenth anniversary. The final schedule will follow.

“In the spring of 2026, we will not only open a new animal enclosure, but the climbing course will also be adjusted and we will deliver two towers that overlook the Elephant Valley and that new animal area,” director Julius Minnaar looks ahead.

Evening event Wildnights, which was held during the Christmas holidays, attracted four thousand fewer visitors than the previous edition. According to the park, a questionnaire among visitors shows that this edition has been received more positively than previous editions.

A total of 51,000 thousand visitors attended the evening event with light shows, which was held for the eighth time.
