Track motorcyclist Niki Tuuli will return to the racetrack this coming weekend in Czech Most.

Tuuli, 26, was injured at the end of May in Portugal at the Estoril track in the Supersport World Series competition. As a result of the accident, he had three toes amputated from his left foot. Several fractures were also found in the footboard.

Tuuli, who drives for the Italian MV Augusta team, went to test his driving condition on the track last week.

– Rehabilitation has progressed well, but walking is still not possible without a cane. The leg still swells easily and is painful. Put on a bigger driving boot and a light painkiller and the driving went just fine. Two races were missed, but now it’s time to return to the race tracks, Tuuli said in the press release.

On May 22, the wind fell during the warm-up for the Estoril race. In the fall, his foot got caught between the motorcycle and the stroller.

A few weeks ago, Tuuli told Iltalehte about his health. At that time, he said that he was able to leave out the strongest painkillers.

The pain eased when I could move my leg.

– I feel much better already. A week ago I was able to start physiotherapy and rehabilitation. My mind is also more refreshed when I have been able to do things again, Tuuli said at the time.
