Nike appoints new head of communications

Nike has appointed KeJuan Wilkins, who is already Vice President of Enterprise Communications at the US sportswear company, as the new Chief Communications Officer (CCO).

In this position, which he will take up on June 1, Wilkins will be responsible for global communications for the company and employees as well as consumers, Nike announced on Wednesday. He will report directly to Nike CEO John Donahoe and succeed Nigel Powell, who “will retire in the summer.”

“KeJuan is a world-class communications professional who will lead us into Nike’s next phase of growth,” said Donahoe. “His knowledge, insights and forward thinking will be a great asset to our leadership team.”

Wilkins has been with the company for 17 years and was most recently responsible for global corporate and employee communications. Prior to that, he led North American communications for the Nike and Jordan brands. Before joining Nike, he worked in the athletic shoe industry and with the New York Knicks basketball team.
