Households in and around Meppel were without electricity for about twenty minutes last night. The power outage affected the entire city of Meppel and a number of nearby places.
Around 12:15 a.m. the power went out and it was dark in and around Meppel. About twenty minutes later the power outage was over.
Shortly after the power outage was over, the police temporarily closed the Westerstouwe in Meppel. There is a high-voltage substation on this street. The fire brigade investigated there for some time.
The cause of the power outage is not yet known.
