Nightmare evening for Luthe and Jaeckel – Union loses 0:4 in Munich

The result? Clearly! Nevertheless. The Irons have already delivered worse games, losing 0:4 at Bayern. Union misses really good chances with the record champions. But for two actors, Andreas Luthe and Paul Jaeckel, the evening turns into a nightmare.

Rani Khedira on Sky: “Actually, we started boldly, boldly and very well. But then we give Bayern three presents.”

In the short term, the irons also have to do without captain Christopher Trimmel (Corona). Because Grischa Prömel (5th yellow) is also missing, Khedira wears the captain’s armband. The Munich team can’t play at their best either, especially on the defensive.

And so Union belongs to the first chance! Cross from Julian Ryerson heads Sheraldo Becker just wide (6th). Lewandowski cannot yet use a Khedira mistake (11th).

Then Coman Paul Jaeckel runs away, the Frenchman pulls from 18 meters – and scores. The Bayern lead (16th). A real bullet from Coman, but Andreas Luthe doesn’t look good in goal.

On the other hand, Neuer does it better. The Bayer keeper is strong in Knoche’s attempt (21st). And a few moments later the next opportunity: Becker serves Awoniyi in the penalty area from the right. His attempt also just misses (22nd).

How many more chances does Union need? The record champion does not need many. Kimmich corner, Nianzou jumps higher than Jaeckel – 0:2 (32nd). Luthe is also there, has her hand on it, but seems much too stiff. The nightmare continues for Luthe and Jaeckel.

Just before the break: A too short header return from Jaeckel does not end up with Luthe because Lewandowski splashes in between and the ball goes past. Luthe runs to Poland – penalty. Lewandowski sure converts – 0: 3 (45 + 1).

Bastian Oczipka: “We should have just made the most of our chances to score, so we get three own goals and quickly find ourselves on the losing road. Something like that must not happen to us in Munich.”

The second half of the game continues – with goals from Bayern. The ball comes to Lewandowski via Müller and Musiala, who only has to shoot in from a short distance (47th). His 31st goal of the season! Here, too, Jaeckel is too late. There is no giving up at Union. Awoniyi’s attempt saves Hernandez from the line (53′). But the ball wouldn’t have been in there anyway.

The approximately 1,500 fans take it with humor and sing: “It’s going to be a tight box.”
