A 53-year-old man from Dijk en Waard ended up in the water with his bicycle last night along the Westeinde in Broek op Langedijk. Bystanders pulled the victim out of the water. The man had to be resuscitated and is in hospital with serious injuries.
Two men from Dijk en Waard cycled home after a night out. When they drove up to the Broekerplein, one of them lost control of the wheel and dived into the adjacent ditch.
The other man (53) was unable to get the victim out of the water independently. He eventually managed to attract the attention of bystanders, who helped the man out of the ditch.
Resuscitation
In addition to the summoned emergency services, a trauma helicopter was also called. “The victim was resuscitated on the spot and taken to hospital with injuries. It is not known how he is doing now,” the police said.
