The Formula 1 race in Texas will stop in Austin on Sunday. So that Nico Hülkenberg can get points again this time, he has an old friend with him.

The stars of Formula 1 are stopping in Austin, Texas this weekend. A route that the German driver Nico Hülkenberg will still remember well. Because: The 38-year-old finished in the points last season. Both in the sprint and in the race. To ensure that this is successful again, Hülkenberg has a special lucky charm with him.

And none other than decathlon world champion Leo Neugebauer. He studied in Austin and was already at the track last year. Now the German is back on site, as a video from Sky shows.

Both sports greats can be seen running together in the pit lane with microphones in hand. When asked whether he could score points again with his lucky charm, Hülkenberg explained about Neugebauer: “Hopefully. No pressure.” Neugebauer adds: “Exactly, I’m here.”

Then Hülkenberg explained: “We met here at the Grand Prix last year. The chemistry was there straight away, it was a good fit. From one athlete’s life to the next there was a connection and we’ve maintained that a bit over the year and it’s nice that he’s back.”

The driver also explained that it was a home race for Neugebauer, precisely because he studied there for a long time and still lives there. Neugebauer also shared a few impressions in his story and wrote: “Let’s have a little fun in the next few days.”
