Nick & Simon continue to cause speculation with their breakup. According to Aran Bade there is a fight about infidelity and Bart Ettekoven thinks colleagues Kees Tol and Jan Smit know more about it.

The split between Nick & Simon keeps people busy; even the Achuurjournaal had an item about it last night. The official reason is that they would like to make solo music, but by now it is clear to most people that the guys are arguing with each other. Nick in particular seems to be done with it.

Silent Nick

Where Simon yesterday, on the day the split was confirmed, all enthusiastic Instagram-posts posted about their farewell tour, Nick didn’t spend a single letter on it. “Nick really doesn’t say anything at all. That is, of course, quite remarkable. There must be something going on there,” said Shownieuws expert Bart Ettekoven.

Nick suddenly posted around noon: “Big news today! Those words seemed deliberately chosen so that he could subtly make it clear that his big news of the day was not the breakup with Simon, but the tenth birthday of his son Julian. “It is striking that Nick really doesn’t say a word about it”, says Bart.

Type of divorce

RTL Boulevard reporter Aran Bade states that the rumors about bonje between Nick & Simon are really very persistent. “Today we hear again from all quarters that this is also a real rift on a personal level. It’s not a marriage, but it’s a sort of divorce.”

But why a farewell tour? “There’s just a cash register behind it. Tickets still have to be sold for a very long farewell tour. I think that if you put a line under your career, you should also just finish it with one or two big concerts and that’s itbut this is really going to be an agony for them.”

It is also clear to Aran which of the two gentlemen is most done with it. “Nick has actually already pulled his hands off it. You no longer see any reference to Nick & Simon in Nick.”

What does Aran say is the reason? “I feel in everything that something is going on privately. There are stories of Simon being infidel, doing something on a personal level that would have hurt Nick and hurt everyone else.”

Colleague Luuk Ikink: “It seems clear that Nick is done with it, that he just really doesn’t feel like it anymore.”

Aran: “Something may have happened that has prevented them from going through the same door together. We have seen those images of ZAND in Almere. They barely look at each other.”

Jan and Kees

Normally artists like to talk to the media about big news, but Nick & Simon are silent. And not just them. “It is a pity that all the Volendam artists we called do not want to say anything at all. Like a closed oyster,” says Bart van Shownieuws. “I think there are really some things going on.”

Bart is especially curious about the reactions of Jan Smit and Kees Tol, but they refuse any form of comment. “A Kees Tol and a Jan Smit will certainly know a little more than we do and therefore probably don’t feel like standing in front of a camera and performing a play.”

In any case, it will not be a pleasant farewell tour, Bart concludes. “That will be a kind of very painful journey through the Netherlands with two cars driving behind each other.”
