Nick Cave and Warren Ellis announce live album with first single

Nick Cave and his musical partner Warren Ellis will soon be releasing a new album together. This is a live work which will be the recording of the gig at the Sydney Opera House. With “Balcony Man” in the live version there is already a first single to be heard.

First tour of Nick Cave and Warren Ellis as a duo

Caves and Ellis’ latest record is titled AUSTRALIAN CARNAGE – LIVE AT THE SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE and was created as part of the tour of Australia they were playing. In 2022 they gave 16 concerts together in their home country, where they mainly performed songs from the current Nick Cave album CARNAGE, which ME editor André Boße gave 5 1/2 out of six stars, as well as Bad Seeds classics. Although Warren Ellis has been making music with Cave for years, including on film soundtracks and is a member of the Bad Seeds, this was the first tour they embarked on as a duo.

The highlight of the tour were the three performances in Australia’s largest city: Sydney. There, in the famous opera house of the metropolis, Cave and Ellis celebrated the end of their tour. Along with guest appearances from other Bad Seeds members such as Larry Mullis, Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood also made an appearance. Songs like “Bright Horses”, “Carnage” and also “I Need You” captivated the audience on those evenings.

AUSTRALIAN CARNAGE – LIVE AT THE SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE is available digitally from August 25th. The eight-song vinyl edition will follow on December 1st. The single “Balcony Man” is already in advance streaming listen.
