NFL: Saints lure quarterback star

Derek Carr has taken his time looking for a new team since leaving the Las Vegas Raiders. The NFL quarterback has now made his choice.

As Mike Garafolo of “NFL Network” announced on Twitter, Carr will soon sign with the New Orleans Saints. After nine seasons with the Raiders, the four-time Pro Bowler is hiring in New Orleans. The reporter described the move as the first quarterback domino to fall.

Carr has been one of the most desirable quarterbacks on the open market since he was released by the Raiders last February. In New Orleans he should be given far more recognition than in Las Vegas.

Until 2020, the Saints had an excellent playmaker in their own ranks in Drew Brees. However, after the NFL icon retired, no successor has been able to fill in the big footprints of the 2010 Super Bowl winner. Last year, for example, Andy Dalton and Jameis Winston failed at this task.

Now apparently Carr should give the new savior. Incidentally, the obligation of the native Californian can be described as a real coup.

NFL star reportedly leaned toward the New York Jets

Several teams put out feelers to Derek Carr. According to “NFL Network”, at least three teams have exchanged views with the playcaller in the NFL Scouting Combine alone. In addition to the New Orleans Saints, the Carolina Panthers and the New York Jets also negotiated with the 31-year-old.

Until recently, the Jets were considered the big favorites for Carr’s commitment. For example, “ESPN” correspondent Jeremy Fowler only reported on Sunday that the quarterback felt a slight tendency towards New York.

Carr may not have wanted a long back-and-forth with the Green Gang, who are said to be still interested in Aaron Rodgers. Carr would only have been the Jets’ second choice. A role that certainly does not fit into the self-image of the NFL professional.
