Good news for the Detroit Lions: Your best defender gave an extremely positive update on the way to his comeback in the NFL after a long break.

Aidan Hutchinson had withdrawn from the public for a long time after his serious leg injury early last season. Now he reported back and spoke for the first time with reporters.

On Thursday he had a good news to announce: the doctors gave him the green light to take part in football activities again.

“I’m now back with the boys and it feels like I’m completely myself again,” said Hutchinson on Thursday. “I’m really looking forward to the season. I think I’ve never been so excited about the Otas in my life. This is the longest break that I had without playing, so I’m totally thrilled.”

Serious injury in week 6

Hutchinson had broken the shin and fabric in the game at the Dallas Cowboys in week 6 of the previous season and missed the rest of the season. Until then, he had already brought it to 7.5 sacks and thus led the league. Nobody exceeded this number in the service of the Lions until the end of the season!

Since then Hutchinson had tried to get fit again in the season. He took a possible super bowl as the goal, which would have been too ambitious in view of his full recovery.

Over his entire rehabilitation process, Hutchinson said: “At such moments you try to see all the positive aspects you can find to make it a little understandable, and yet you still ask yourself at the end of the day: Why?” Said Hutchinson. “That’s why you dive into faith, and I did that in a way, and it was a very challenging time for a few months.”

Hutchinson added: “You want to participate in the victories, and as much as I was part of the team, if you are not really there, you don’t really feel as part. When I got back on my feet, I tried to be involved as possible.”
