Next weekend work on track between Meppel and northern stations

Train passengers between Meppel and the North will have to take extra travel time into account in the coming period. Starting next weekend, work will be done on the track from Meppel to both Heerenveen and Hoogeveen.

On Saturday 15 and Sunday 16, the points between Meppel and Hoogeveen will be replaced, so no trains can run. Travelers can use buses, the extra travel time is expected to be half an hour.

The work is not the follow-up to the relocation of the rail curve in Hoogeveen, it is not yet known when the second part of that large-scale work will take place.

On Saturday 15 October, work will also start on the track between Meppel and Heerenveen at night. “We are renewing rails, ballast gravel and sleepers, among other things,” says a ProRail spokesperson. These works will take longer, the trains will not start running again until Monday 24 October.
