Is Schlotterbeck leaving Borussia?
The next top club will probably get into poker for the BVB star

Dortmund’s club management plans to build its future team around national player Schlotterbeck. But it is arousing the desires of more and more clubs. Apparently also from England now.
Nico Schlotterbeck is one of the top performers at Borussia Dortmund – but his future is open. The 25-year-old central defender has not yet responded to the offer to extend his contract. BVB wants to extend the long-term contract, which runs until 2027, until 2030, but the national player is taking his time.
According to information from the “DaveOCKOP” portal, Liverpool FC is now also getting into position. According to the media outlet close to the club, there have already been initial discussions with Schlotterbeck’s environment. The English champions are looking for reinforcements in central defense – and could lose Ibrahima Konaté on a free transfer in the summer. Schlotterbeck is also considered a possible successor to Virgil van Dijk, whose contract ends in 2027.
Liverpool are said to be interested in a move in the winter due to the long-term absence of talent Giovanni Leoni. However, an early exit is not up for discussion for BVB.
Schlotterbeck himself recently stated that a quick extension was not to be expected. Before the Champions League game against Athletic Bilbao, he said: “It won’t be that early that I extend my contract!”
BVB sports director Lars Ricken emphasized in “Sport Bild”: “It is his absolute right to plan his future carefully. We respect that too.” At the same time, he made it clear: “We won’t rush into it. But of course we don’t want to drag it out until the end of the day, and everyone is aware of that.”
At the latest, the Bundesliga duel with FC Bayern on Saturday (6.30 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online) should provide further indications of how realistic Schlotterbeck’s hope of a title with BVB currently is.
