Next failure – Mazraoui injured

The German record champions simply can’t calm down. Now there is the next personnel setback for the Munich team – but also positive news.

Three competitive defeats in a row, a deep crisis in terms of play – and now another personnel setback for FC Bayern Munich: right-back Noussair Mazraoui will be missing from the German record champions for the time being. The 26-year-old suffered a torn muscle fiber in his left back thigh in the away game at VfL Bochum. The club announced this on Monday afternoon. The Munich team did not explain how long Mazraoui would be out for the time being.

In the 2-3 draw in Bochum, Mazraoui had to be substituted injured after just 32 minutes; Dayot Upamecano came on in his place – who, ironically, had to leave the field just 45 minutes later because he received a yellow-red card for repeated foul play.

Mazraoui is the next notable loss that Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel will have to cope with in the current difficult situation. New signing Sacha Boey recently tore a muscle fiber and will be out for several weeks. Particularly annoying for Bayern, as Boey only came to Säbener Straße from Galatasaray at the end of January for an impressive 30 million euros – the most expensive transfer in the league in the winter – and was supposed to strengthen the defense. So now the next defensive specialist is out.

At the same time, Bayern also reported positive things: Both Alphonso Davies (strained medial ligament on his left knee) and Konrad Laimer (torn muscle bundle in his left calf) are making progress: Davies was able to do exercises with the ball for the first time on Monday, which the Austrian Laimer could train individually with the ball again.
